There are so many things that go into opening a shop-space that newbs like me wouldn’t give much thought to - trivial things - like electrical connections and fire safety. pfft
Ok, perhaps you would give some thought, for me, there’s no room for such distractions when my dreamy shop dreams are coming true.
This past week was planned for cleaning, painting and layout planning - perhaps even some furniture brought in (swoon) - however, our electrical system thought otherwise. While I was able to get the place cleaned out and get a fire extinguisher installed, we’re now waiting on an electrical and fire inspection to be completed before we can really get going.
Pretty sexy updates, yes? ok, way more interesting stuff below!
artist interviews
As we wait on inspections to be completed, there are SO many other things to work on, one of which is my new project called creatively curious, a monthly interview series with local (to me) artists of all mediums. I’ll sit down with these brilliant, inspiring artists in the SS+CO shop and chat on things — including their practice, what inspires them and how you can support their work. Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss them!
This project is being crafted in the spirit of connecting community and empowering and inspiring others to pursue and explore their own creativity. A little, if we can do it, so can you inspo read!
For the first interview, I meet with Noelle Savage of The Savage Hand. Noelle is a Sacramento fiber artist currently crocheting all our hopes and dreams — that we’re also so lucky to be selling soon in the shop! I first met Noelle on Instagram, where it seems most of us meet these days - and then at a market - where I fell smitten for her art and her energy. I’m so excited to share her story with you!
The creatively curious interviews will be available to all paid subscribers starting next week!
calling all artists

Subscribing to this newsletter is already huge, but also if you’re interested in other avenues as well, my new spring collection is available in the shop — I know it goes without saying — your pup would look pretty friggin cute in any of it.
Every sale goes to furthering the opening on this shop and allowing me to continue to create - I’m so very thankful for it all.
